PennyPeeps Pennies Terms
Operator: Lumon LLC, Tennessee, United States. Version: October 13, 2026 (`2026-10-13`).
Free Pennies at launch
No purchases are currently offered. After confirming your email, eligible members receive a one-time grant of 100 free Pennies. There is no daily or per-visit allowance. The grant may be smaller or unavailable because of account restrictions, balance or promotional limits. Disposable email domains are ineligible. Creating extra accounts to collect grants is prohibited; one confirmed email can receive only one starter grant.
Rewards and invites
Lumon may add promotional Pennies to your balance as rewards. They are promotional grants from Lumon: they are never taken from, paid by or sent by another member, and like all promotional Pennies they are non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for money. Rewards are Pennies only; they are never money, author earnings or anything else. Current rewards, which need a verified mobile phone (VoIP and other non-mobile numbers are refused):
- your first comment ever: 25 Pennies, once per account; - a comment on a discussion started by PennyPeeps: 10 Pennies, one per discussion and at most 3 a day (UTC); - bringing a friend: 100 Pennies when a friend joins with your invite link and verifies their phone, at most 10 a month (UTC calendar month). Your friend gets the ordinary joining Pennies. The invite text PennyPeeps prepares says that you get Pennies for inviting them; if you share your link another way, say so too.
While Lumon's launch mode is off, the comment reward waits for the comment's first Like from an account not linked to you, and the invite reward also waits for your friend's first comment to be liked by an account linked to neither of you. Linked means related by account signals, flagged together in a backing ring, or one of you invited the other. For 30 days after an invite, Likes and Boosts between you and that friend still count for score but create no author earnings. Rewards may be withheld from restricted, frozen or farming-flagged accounts, and Lumon may change or end rewards prospectively.
Pennies are a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use digital items for PennyPeeps features only. Promotional Pennies are granted free. They are non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for money. Spending Pennies is not a payment to any author and is not a way to send money or monetary value to anyone. Lumon separately pays qualifying authors for their content from its own earnings program. Pennies do not represent a bank deposit, investment, prize or guaranteed author payout; these terms do not waive mandatory rights or determine regulatory classification.
If purchases open
Buying Pennies is a purchase of a digital item from Lumon LLC. Purchased Pennies pay for reactions on PennyPeeps: Likes, Boosts, Dislikes and the reaction needed to reply. Spending them is not a payment to any author; what you pay Lumon stays with Lumon, and Lumon pays authors separately from its own earnings program. Pennies are not redeemable for cash by purchasers, except where required by law, and cannot be transferred to another person. Your balance is capped at 10,000 Pennies. Applicable taxes may be added at checkout.
Purchased Pennies never expire and carry no dormancy or inactivity fees. If Lumon ends the Pennies program, or closes your account when you have not broken these terms, Lumon refunds your unused purchased Pennies at the price you paid for them.
If a purchase is refunded or charged back, Lumon removes that purchase's unused Pennies from your balance. Pennies you already spent are not taken back from anyone, and authors keep what Lumon credited them for your earlier reactions.
Likes and Dislikes
A Like spends Pennies on a public reaction attributed to your public handle, never your legal name. Where eligibility checks pass, Lumon credits the author provisional earnings from its own funds under Lumon's rate table, which Lumon may change prospectively; for free-Penny Likes this also needs company budget. Today a 1-Penny Like leads Lumon to credit 1¢. Your Pennies are not a payment to the author and are never sent to anyone: Lumon decides and pays the author's earnings itself. If that budget is exhausted, free-Penny backing still records your reaction but creates no author earnings. Raising the budget later does not automatically fund earlier unfunded reactions.
Dislikes require trust level 2. That level is reached when your email is confirmed and your account is at least 24 hours old, or when your email is confirmed and you verify a mobile number, provided there is no related-account or backing-ring flag. Administrative restrictions override automatic trust. If PennyPeeps turns on its phone check for all reactions, you must verify a mobile number before Liking or Disliking; each mobile number can belong to only one account. A Like from a lower-trust account still shows, but may not create earnings until it qualifies. Its provisional author amount expires after 30 days if it never qualifies. The spent Penny is not restored.
A trusted person can Dislike with free Pennies while purchases are disabled; if purchases open, Dislikes use purchased Pennies. A Dislike spends at least 2 Pennies and cancels the matching amount of pending author earnings immediately, newest unlocked cent first. Larger fixed sizes are offered only when enough unlocked earnings can be cancelled. Authors lock in their own earnings; a Dislike cannot affect locked-in earnings or reduce pending earnings below zero. If nothing is eligible to cancel, the Dislike is unavailable and nothing is charged. The Liker whose cent is cancelled gets their Penny back immediately, as the same kind of Penny they spent. Lumon keeps the Disliker's Pennies; a cancelled company-funded cent returns to the available earnings budget. Free Dislike Pennies are promotional value, not cash revenue to Lumon.
Boosts
A Like uses one of these fixed sizes: 1, 5, 10, 15 or 25 Pennies. The size is shown before you confirm and is charged in full. You may instead Like for 1 Penny and later Boost through the same sizes, paying only each difference (for example, 4 more Pennies to move from 1 to 5). A repeated Like does not charge again. There are no custom amounts.
Boost Pennies buy visibility and score on PennyPeeps: a comment's score is the Like Pennies on it (standing or cancelled) minus half the Dislike Pennies on it, and ranking counts only Pennies that have been in place for at least an hour. Boost Pennies are not a payment to the author. Under Lumon's current rate table, a Like at 1, 5, 10, 15 or 25 Pennies leads Lumon to credit the author 1¢, 4¢, 9¢, 13¢ or 22¢ of provisional earnings in total, from Lumon's own funds; every Boost level pays the author less than its Pennies, and the remaining Pennies pay Lumon for the visibility. Lumon may change the rate table; changes apply only to later Likes and Boosts.
A Dislike uses one of these fixed sizes: 2, 10, 20, 30 or 50 Pennies. A Dislike level cancels up to 1¢, 4¢, 9¢, 13¢ or 22¢ from pending earnings. The size is shown before you confirm and is charged in full. You may instead Dislike for 2 Pennies and later Boost through the same sizes, paying only each difference. A Dislike is available only when its full effect can be cancelled immediately; otherwise you are not charged. Each affected Liker gets 1 Penny back for the cancelled cent, including when their Like was larger than 1 Penny.
One change per comment, and limits
There is one active reaction per person per comment, and you get one change on each comment: switch sides, step a Boost down, or undo. After that your reaction on that comment is final.
Undo or step down: until the author locks in any of the earnings from your Like, you can undo it or step your Boost down. You get back the Pennies for the undone part, as the same kind of Pennies you spent (free or purchased), except Pennies a Dislike already returned to you; the matching pending earnings are removed from the author. Once the author locks in earnings from your Like, it is final. Undoing a first-level Like within 10 seconds of making it (the Undo offered right after you Like) refunds it and does not use your one change, once per comment. A Dislike takes effect immediately and cannot be undone. Switch: when you switch sides, choose any currently offered fixed size for the new reaction and pay that full size. The earlier reaction is not refunded and its prior earnings effects are not reversed. Switching to Dislike removes your handle from the likers list.
Likes and Boosts are capped at 100 Pennies per person per author per UTC day (Pennies later undone still count) and 60 Pennies per minute. Dislikes are capped at 100 **Pennies spent** per person per UTC day, and ten Dislike actions per minute. No self-Dislikes. Related accounts cannot react financially to one another. A free-Penny Dislike from an account flagged in a backing ring has no effect and spends nothing.
Budget, reversals and removal
Author earnings created by free-Penny Likes and Boosts come from Lumon's company budget: up to $1,000 per UTC calendar month in total, within a current $200 overall lifetime cap, and at most $5 per author per calendar month. An administrator may raise the overall cap prospectively, with the change recorded. The budget is reserved when a free-Penny backing creates potential earnings, not when free Pennies are granted. Cancelled or expired unpaid amounts release their reservation. Amounts already paid continue to count. When the month's budget or the author's cap is used up, your free-Penny Like or Boost still counts for score and visibility but creates no author earnings. Lumon can change the budget and cap prospectively; a grant is not a promise that your later reaction will qualify for earnings.
Moderators can reverse abusive Dislikes without refunding the disliker. A reversal does not take back the Penny already returned to the backer and never returns it twice, and it never restores a Like its liker has since undone. Restored earnings are funded from the company budget, require available budget and wait a fresh 24 hours before the author can lock them in. If the budget has run out, the backing is restored as a reaction without earnings. No restoration can exceed the hard budget.
If a post is deleted or removed while backing earnings are pending, those earnings are cancelled and the pending backer's Pennies are restored, along with the Boost Pennies on it. Settled backings are not restored by post removal, and a backing whose Penny a Dislike already returned is not restored a second time. Backings that never created earnings are not restored either. Loading limits can defer a post-removal restoration; its delivery remains recorded.
The balance ceiling and UTC daily loading limit are each 10,000 Pennies. All grants, restorations and any historical purchase reservations count. Spending does not reset the daily limit. The starter grant is capped to fit these limits when it is issued; any amount that does not fit is not added later.
Participation and misuse
You can post one comment per discussion (replies in threads are unlimited). You can edit your comment's text; edited comments are marked as edited and follow the same content rules. Replies are posts too: they can be backed and disliked, and earn for their authors, under these same rules. Replying is free, but to reply anywhere under a comment you need a reaction on that comment; its author can reply without reacting, and anyone can answer replies to their own reply. Reading, posting and reporting do not require a purchase. Automatically generated and team-seeded posts cannot earn. Do not exchange Pennies outside PennyPeeps, buy coordinated backing, use multiple accounts to farm earnings or rewards, invite yourself, fabricate engagement, or use the service for wagering, raffles or prizes.
Reciprocal backing in a rolling seven-day window is reviewed across pairs and larger cycles. Free-Penny reciprocal backing earns nothing. Where historical purchased Pennies are involved, at most the first backing Penny per pair may qualify. Disqualified backing is excluded from take shares and trending. Farmed earnings can be cancelled before payout and account restrictions can prevent further grants.
Existing purchase rights and help
No new packs are sold at launch. Any existing purchase rights remain: unauthorized, duplicate and undelivered purchases are investigated and corrected, with refunds where appropriate or required. There are no change-of-mind refunds, subject to mandatory rights. Accounts are never penalized for good-faith billing disputes. Historical purchases are not repriced. Good-faith billing disputes do not result in account penalties.
Lumon may change future grants or end the program with notice. On termination for material rule violations, the license to unused Pennies may be forfeited, subject to mandatory rights. Suspension does not silently erase ledger balances. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
Contact support@pennypeeps.com for grant, reaction, moderation or historical billing help. Signed-in users can report historical billing problems through **Your Pennies → Help with a purchase** (`/wallet#billing`). Do not email card numbers, sign-in links or identity documents.
