The r/pennypeeps app on Reddit
Terms of use and privacy notice for the app that runs in the r/pennypeeps community on Reddit. It is made by Lumon LLC. Effective September 25, 2026.
What the app does
People ask a question in r/pennypeeps and reply in the comments. The app groups the replies into sides and shows how people split. A question you ask is posted to Reddit under your own username, and you can delete it any time. The app runs entirely on Reddit. It has no money, Pennies, payments or rewards, and it never asks you to make an account anywhere else.
Using it
Use the app as you would any part of Reddit: Reddit’s User Agreement and Content Policy and the r/pennypeeps rules apply. You own what you post; Reddit hosts it under Reddit’s terms. Moderators can remove questions and comments. The app is provided as is, without warranties, and it may change or stop.
What it stores
Only in the app’s own storage on Reddit, per question: the question; for each comment, a short excerpt (up to 140 characters) and which side it is in; which Reddit account wrote each comment and which side each person picked, so each person is counted once on that question; and the side names. Nothing is stored anywhere else, and nothing is sent to or shown on any other website.
How long it keeps it
Everything stored for a question expires 30 days after the last activity on it. When a comment or question is deleted or removed, the app deletes what it stored about it straight away. Reddit doesn’t tell apps when an account is deleted, but because everything expires, a deleted account’s details are gone from the app within 30 days.
Grouping comments into sides
By default the app groups comments into sides with simple word matching that runs on Reddit. If grouping by Google Gemini is switched on, the app sends the question, the current side names and the text of new comments to Google’s Gemini service. It sends no usernames or account IDs, and removes links and u/ mentions first. We use a paid Gemini plan, under which Google does not use this text to train its models, and we never use Reddit content to train any model. Apart from this, no data leaves Reddit.
No profiling
The app only knows which side you are on within one question, to count you once. It never combines that across questions, never builds a profile of anyone’s views, and never sells or shares it.
